Qur’an, Etrat Festival Kicks Off in Mashhad



 MASHHAD (IQNA) – The 21st edition of the Qur’an and Etrat festival of Iran’s medical universities got underway in the holy city of Mashhad Tuesday night. A number of officials, including Health Minister Hassan Ghazizadeh Hashemi and Governor of Khorasan Razavi province Ali Reza Rashidian, attended the opening ceremony.
It began with recitation of verses from the Qur’an by prominent Qari Hamed Valizadeh, followed by a number of speeches.
Speakers at the opening ceremony hailed the organization of the festival and underlined the need for acting upon the teachings of the Qur’an in life.
During the event, Iranian filmmaker Majid Mijidi, whose latest movie "Muhammad (PBUH): The Messenger of God” has been acclaimed both in Iran and abroad, was honored for his achievements in production of religious works, especially the film on the life of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
The medical universities Qur’an and Etrat festival, which will run until today, includes competitions in different fields such as research, arts, book reading, and the teachings of the Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS).
Winners will be announced and awarded at the closing ceremony on Friday.
