Iran Judokas Secure Two Medals at Asian Games
TEHRAN (Dispatches) – Jafar Pahlevani and Ghanbarali Ghanbari claimed two medals in kurash sport at the 2018 Asian Games on Tuesday.
Pahlevani lost to Uzbekistan’s Mukhsin Khisomiddinov in the Men +90 kg Final at the JCC - Assembly Hall in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Also, Ghanbari claimed a bronze medal in the Men -66 kg.
Kurash is a form of wrestling that originated in central Asia in the territory of modern Uzbekistan.
In women’s division, Iranian female judo fighter Tahereh Azarpayvand at -52kg won against an opponent from Kazakhstan and reached the quarter-finals.
The 2018 Asian Games, officially known as the 18th Asian Games and also known as Jakarta Palembang 2018, is a pan-Asian multi-sport event. The event is underway from 18 August to 2 September in the Indonesian cities of Jakarta and Palembang.
The athletes compete in 465 events across 40 sports and 67 disciplines.
