Social Divide and Uproar

JAVAN: Social divisions fuel political and social rivalry among different groups. These groups have their own set of interests and they will surely use their political and financial might to meet their goals. Since there are differences among these groups, confrontation will be inevitable. This will inevitably also lead to chaos in the society. The question now is what the government of Rouhani is doing to bridge the gap between the rich and the poor. Has it done enough to empower those that have made allegiance to the revolution and the republic?

A Tale of Two Elections

VATAN EMROOZ: Many of those who supported the post-election unrest of 2009 regret it now. But those behind the sedition still refuse to apologize for their dangerous maneuvers at the time. Instead, they went to the polls and proudly took selfies while casting their ballots all over again. Ebrahim Raisi lost the election despite having the support of some 16 million voters. He did respect the position of the Guardian Council and asked it to investigate the irregularities.

So Long America

SIASAT ROOZ: Europe has reduced itself to unity to distance itself from the United States and forge a rational alliance. Many European media outlets and politicians continue to criticize Trump and his hardline policies. At the G7 Summit in Italy, they made that absolutely clear. Trump talked about global economy and even criticized China for the standoff on the South China Sea. The problem is his European counterparts didn’t buy his words. It is evident that the U.S. and Europe have deep-seated differences now.

Break the Silence

RESALAT: The Saudi regime continues to persecute and murder its citizens in cold blood, particularly children. These crimes against humanity are being committed under the watchful eyes of the United Nations and human rights groups. The regime has just sentenced 14 protesters to death but they look the other way. It is pretty much aware that the regime is on the verge of collapse. It’s a desperate attempt to put further pressure on its oppressed Shia citizens. Human rights groups say the regime is using the "anti-terrorism act” to suppress dissent.
