Iraq Supports Indirect Talks Between Iran and U.S.

ANTALYA (Dispatches) – 
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh has held talks with a number of foreign officials on the sidelines of the 4th Antalya Diplomacy Forum here.
He held meetings with Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein and Norwegian Deputy Foreign Minister Andreas Motzfeldt Kravik on the sidelines of the forum,
The theme of the 4th edition of Antalya Diplomacy Forum (ADF) is “Owning Diplomacy in a Divided World.”
The event is attended by 20 heads of state and government, over 50 foreign ministers, more than 70 other government ministers, around 60 senior representatives of international organizations, and over 4,000 guests, including students.
Hussein voiced support for the indirect talks between Iran and the U.S. in Oman, expressing Baghdad’s hope for regional peace and stability.
“Hussein received on Friday at his residence in the Turkish city of Antalya the Iranian deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh,” a statement by the Iraqi foreign ministry said Saturday. 
During the meeting, it said, bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and ways to strengthen them in various fields were discussed.
“Hussein welcomed the talks scheduled to be held tomorrow, Saturday, in the Sultanate of Oman between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America, expressing his hope that these negotiations will yield positive results that contribute to achieving stability in the region.”
Director of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Mariano Grossi also expressed hope that Iran and the U.S. reach a nuclear deal as soon as possible.
Grossi said he was optimistic that the two sides can resolve differences in economic and trade areas through equal-footed dialog and mutually beneficial cooperation.
