NIGC Delivers Over 870 mcm of Sweet Gas to National Grid
TEHRAN – Figures released by the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) show that over 872 million cubic meters (mcm) of natural gas were delivered to the national grid.
The company said on Saturday that it has delivered 872 million cubic meters (mcm) of natural gas to the national grid.
The spokesperson of NIGC Hassan Mousavi said that 69% of the total gas delivered to the national grid was allocated to the residential, commercial, and small industrial sectors, with 606 mcm consumed in these sectors.
Earlier on Thursday, Mousavi said that 863 million cubic meters (mcm) of sweet gas were produced, with 70% of it consumed by the residential, commercial, and small-scale industrial sectors.
He added that 863 mcm of natural gas were delivered to the national grid on Thursday, February 6, noting that 602 mcm were used by the residential, commercial, and small-scale industrial sectors.
He emphasized that 70% of the total gas delivered to the national grid was allocated to these sectors.
Following a cold snap and forecasts of further temperature drops, President Masoud Pezeshkian, Petroleum Minister Mohsen Paknejad, and several other officials urged the public to participate in the “2 Degrees Less” campaign. Through video and written messages, they called for optimal energy use and cooperation in ensuring winter fuel supply.
Iran is the third largest natural gas producer in the world after the United States and Russia. A bulk of Iran’s gas output, around 600 mcm per day, is consumed by households and businesses while some 200 mcm per day of gas is supplied to power plants and industries in the country.
