‘Prophet Moses’ Kicks Off Strong at Box Office
TEHRAN -- On the eve of its premiere at the 43rd Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF), the highly anticipated film ‘Prophet Moses’ has achieved a remarkable milestone by securing the highest ticket sales.
According to IRNA, all festival tickets were sold out on Wednesday morning, with ‘Prophet Moses’ emerging as the best-selling film. Its tickets were completely booked in advance, setting a new record for the festival.
The film is directed by Ebrahim Hatamikia and produced by Seyyed Mahmoud Razavi.
It also stars prominent actors, including Merila Zarei, Alireza Kamali, Bahareh Kian-Afshar, Behnam Tashakkor, and Shakib Shajareh.
Merila Zarei portrays Jochebed, the mother of Prophet Moses, while Alireza Kamali takes on the role of Imran, Moses’ father during his childhood.
Bahareh Kian-Afshar plays Asiya, Behnam Tashakkor portrays Pharaoh, and Shakib Shajareh appears as the commander of Pharaoh’s army.
‘Prophet Moses’ focuses on the childhood of Prophet Moses and features a large ensemble cast, including Farhad Ayeesh, Maryam Sarmadi, Toufan Mehrdadian, Masoud Rahimpour, Kambiz Amini, Bahar Nouhian, and child actors Gandom Sheikhi and Delsa Muhammadi.
The project is produced by the Simafilm Center, with plans already in motion to begin filming a television series adaptation following the completion of the cinematic version.
The upcoming series, consisting of 52 episodes, will chronicle events starting before the birth of Prophet Moses.
Originally, the series was to be directed by Jamal Shourjeh after the passing of acclaimed director Farajollah Salahshour, known for ‘Prophet Joseph’. However, due to Shourjeh’s health complications following a stroke, Hatamikia took over the project.
With an overwhelming audience response and record-breaking ticket sales, ‘Prophet Moses’ has already cemented its place as one of the most significant films in the history of the Fajr International Film Festival.
The festival will open on Friday, January 31, 2025, with the screening of the film ‘Sayyad’ by Javad Afshar.
