Jordan Says Will Not Allow Israeli Violation of Airspace

Iran Ready for ‘Regretful Response’ to Israel

AMMAN (Dispatches) --
Jordan’s foreign minister on Wednesday told his Iranian counterpart here that the kingdom would not allow any parties to violate its airspace, amid Israel’s threats of aggression against the Islamic Republic.
Jordan will “not be a battlefield for anyone and will not allow any party to violate its sovereignty and airspace and threaten its citizens’ security,” Ayman Safadi said in a meeting with Iran’s top diplomat Abbas Araghchi.
Araghchi also held talks with Jordan’s King Abdullah II, calling for greater cooperation and solidarity among Muslim countries in the region to compel the Israeli regime to halt its genocidal actions and warmongering.
The Iranian foreign minister expressed deep concern and sorrow over the dire conditions facing the displaced people in Gaza and Lebanon, who are currently deprived of basic necessities for survival, according to a readout by the Iranian foreign ministry.
He called for mobilizing all capacities of Islamic countries to collect and send humanitarian aid to the region.
King Abdullah expressed serious concern about the situation in the region and the repercussions of any new conflict and insecurity.
He reaffirmed Jordan’s commitment to assist and participate in initiatives to maintain stability and security in the region.

Both sides also underscored their determination to develop bilateral relations and continue consultations on regional developments to help preserve security and stability in the area.
In his talks with Safadi, Araghchi said the regional countries need to join hands to prevent further escalation and safeguard stability and security in line with the interests of regional nations.
Safadi reiterated his country’s position on the need to end the massacre of innocent people in Palestine and Lebanon,
stopping aggressions against Lebanon, and preventing further instability in the region.
Araghchi’s trip to Jordan is part of the Iranian minister’s intensive diplomacy over the past days, which has already taken him to Iraq, Lebanon, Oman, Syria and Saudi Arabia in recent days.
He is to travel to Egypt and Turkey next to discuss ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, the foreign ministry has said.
In a phone conversation with UN chief Antonio Guterres on Tuesday, Araghchi warned that Tehran is ready for a “decisive and regretful” response if Israel attacks his country.
“Iran, while making all-out efforts to protect the peace and security of the region, is fully prepared for a decisive and regretful response to any adventures” by Israel, he said.
Araghchi said the responsibility for the consequences of the spread of insecurity in the region would rest with the Zionist regime and its main supporter, the United States.
During the call, Araghchi also appealed to the United Nations to use its resources “to stop the crimes and aggressions of the Israeli regime and to send humanitarian aid to Lebanon and Gaza.”
Iran’s top diplomat also spoke on the phone with his French counterpart Jean-Noel Barrot.
The minister stressed the need to stop Israeli attacks on Lebanon and dispatch international humanitarian aid to the country.
