Protesters in Paris Call for End to Zionist Aggression

PARIS (Dispatches) – Hundreds of protesters gathered in Paris to demand an end to the Zionist regime’s airstrikes on Lebanon, using weapons supplied by France, local media reported on Monday.
The demonstrations follow recent Israeli strikes on the Lebanese city of Sidon, which killed at least 24 people and injured 29 others, according to the Euronews.
“We aim to show unity with the Lebanese people,” the media outlet quoted Hassan Daher, a spokesperson for the organizing groups, as saying.
He emphasized solidarity across various political factions in support of Lebanon, its refugees, and victims.
France has historically supported the Zionist regime.
A report from the French Defense Ministry revealed that the country issued 767 export licenses to the occupying regime since 2015, averaging €20 million (over $22.3 million) in military equipment sales annually.
In April, 11 NGOs, including Amnesty International, filed a lawsuit in Paris to halt France’s arms sales to Israel, arguing that civilians in Gaza were being targeted. However, the court dismissed that request in May.
Since Sept. 23, the Zionist regime has launched massive airstrikes against what it calls Hezbollah targets across Lebanon, killing more than 900 people and injuring over 2,700 others, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry.
On Sunday, protests in support of Palestinians and Lebanese erupted in many parts of the world, including Iran, in the West Bank, Turkey, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Jordan, Morocco, Pakistan, the Indian-controlled Kashmir, Australia, Sweden, France and elsewhere.
Pro-Palestinian campaigners protested at the gates of RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus, accusing Britain of offering tacit support to the Zionist regime’s ongoing operations in Gaza and elsewhere.
Chanting “Out with the bases of death” a couple of hundred people holding Palestinian and Cypriot flags peacefully protested outside the locked gates of the facility, Britain’s largest in the Middle East.
Britain last week sent additional troops to Cyprus to be in position to assist any potential evacuation of nationals trapped in Lebanon, which is reeling from a barrage of Israeli air strikes which culminated in the assassination of Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah on Friday evening.
The UK has two military bases on Cyprus, a former British colony. RAF Akrotiri has been used in the past as a staging point for airstrikes against Yemeni forces in retaliation for attacks on Red Sea shipping that the resistance group says is a response to the Zionist regime’s war in Gaza.
