TEHRAN (IBNA) -- The play ‘Describe the Night’ (2017) by American playwright Rajiv Joseph which offers sly, funny dialogue laced with jolts of lyricism has been translated into Persian and published.
This play has been rendered into Persian by Mehrnaz Piltan. Tehran-based Ney Publishing has released ‘Describe the Night’ in 155 pages.
In 1920, the Russian writer Isaac Babel wanders the countryside with the Red Cavalry. In 1990, a mysterious KGB agent spies on a woman in Dresden and falls in love. In 2010, an aircraft carrying most of the Polish government crashes in the Russian city of Smolensk.
Set in Russia over the course of ninety years, this thrilling and epic new play by Rajiv Joseph traces the stories of seven men and women connected by history, myth and conspiracy theories.
Rajiv Joseph’s Broadway play ‘Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo’ was a 2010 Pulitzer Prize finalist for drama, and also awarded a gra+AD6nt for Outstanding New American Play by the National Endowment for the Arts.
Joseph’s New York productions include ‘Guards at the Taj’ (2016 Obie award for Best New Play and the Lucille Lortel award for Outstanding Play), ‘The North Pool’, ‘Gruesome Playground Injuries’, ‘Animals Out of Paper’, ‘The Leopard and the Fox’, ‘Huck & Holden’, and ‘All This Intimacy’.
Other recent plays include ‘Mr. Wolf’, ‘The Lake Effect’ and ‘Monster at the Door’. He received his BA in Creative Writing from Miami University and his MFA in Dramatic Writing from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. He served for three years in the Peace Corps in Senegal and now lives in Brooklyn.
