Landmine Blast Kills Six Syrian Civilians in Homs
DAMASCUS (Dispatches) – Six civilians were killed by a landmine explosion left by terrorists while they were collecting truffles in the desert of al-Sukhna in the eastern countryside of Homs.
Syrian Arab News Agency reported from Homs that the explosion occurred as a car carrying a group of people passed by, who were heading to collect truffles in the Jabal al-Amour area of the al-Sukhna desert.
The landmine was an anti-tank mine from the remnants of Daesh terrorists.
Last February 17, fifty-three citizens were killed while collecting truffles in an attack carried out by Daesh terrorists southeast of al-Sukhna city in the eastern countryside of Homs.
In another development, militants of a terrorist group attempted to break into the territory controlled by Syrian government forces in the Idlib governorate, according to Oleg Gurinov, deputy chief of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Opposing Parties in Syria.
“Militants from the (so-called) Turkestan Islamic Party terrorist group made an attempt to infiltrate the territory controlled by Syrian government troops near the settlement of Kafer Batikh in the Idlib governorate,” he said on Friday, TASS reported.
According to Gurinov, Syrian troops thwarted the attempt and the terrorists, having sustained losses, retreated to their initial positions. “Three militants were killed,” he added.
He also said that four shelling attacks by terrorist group and Hayat Tahrir al-Sham militants had been reported in the Idlib de-escalation zone during the day.
“One shelling attack was reported in the Aleppo governorate, two attacks - in the Idlib governorate, and one - in the Latakia governorate,” he said.
