Russia, Iran Discuss Implementation of 25-Year Pact
TEHRAN – Speaker of the Iranian parliament Muhammad Baqer Qalibaf and chairman of Russia’s State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin here Monday discussed implementation of the 25-year comprehensive cooperation agreement between the two countries.
Qalibaf touched on the third meeting of the Supreme Joint Parliamentary Commission of Iran and Russia held between the two countries, saying Moscow and Tehran have developed a common understanding of cooperation and sensitive issues.
Qalibaf said both Iranian and Russian authorities are aware that the two countries are facing an important milestone in bilateral and multilateral relations as well as national and regional issues.
For his part, Volodin lauded the positive trend in strengthening of Russia’s relations with Iran.
He said the 25-year agreement between Russia and Iran not only entails the formation of new relations, but it also serves as bedrock for development of ties and closer cooperation in all areas.
