Hamas: Palestinian Revolution to Persist Until Goals Achieved
WEST BANK (Dispatches) – The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has hailed the latest attack on two Zionist vehicles, including a settler bus, in the occupied West Bank, saying the revolution of the Palestinian people will persist until their goals are achieved.
Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem made the remarks in a statement on Sunday, after a shooting incident near the town of Beit Furik, east of the city of Nablus, left a Zionist settler injured.
“The Palestinian people are leading a major revolution that can never subside unless our people’s goals are achieved and the [occupying regime] and its settlers are removed from our land,” he said, the Palestinian Information Center reported.
Qassem further noted that the shooting operation in Nablus coincided with the break-ins by Zionist settlers at the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in the occupied Al-Quds.
“So we consider such act of resistance a natural response to [the Zionist regime’s] crimes against the [Al-Aqsa] mosque,” he added.
Killing of Young Man
Condemned
Meanwhile, Palestine has condemned what it termed “the cold-blooded” Zionist killing of a Palestinian young man in the town of al-Eizariya east of Al-Quds.
In a statement, the Palestinian Foreign Ministry condemned “the cold-blooded Israeli killing” of 18-year-old Fayez Damdum and underlined the urgent need for “an international protection of the Palestinian people.”
“Killing Damdum is a continuation of the systematic and widespread policies of the occupation represented in field executions, willful and extrajudicial killings of our people, to inflame the situation,” the ministry statement said.
The Zionist regime is fully and directly responsible for “this heinous crime and other crimes of the Israeli occupation,” it noted.
“Palestine will work with all international organizations, including the United Nations, to document these crimes to hold the occupants accountable for all its crimes,” it said.
Meanwhile, the head of the political bureau of the Palestinian Islamic resistance movement Hamas says resistance is the only way to defeat the occupying regime and expel the illegal entity from the Palestinian territories.
Ismail Haniyeh made the remark in a phone call with the family of Abu Raad Khazem as he expressed condolences for the martyrdom of their son, Abdel Rahman, who was killed in a raid by Zionist troops in Jenin refugee camp in the occupied West Bank earlier in the week.
Abdel Rahman is the second martyr of the family after his brother, Raad, who was killed by the occupation forces in an alleged shooting attack in Tel Aviv in April.
Haniyeh expressed pride in the sacrifices made by the Palestinian people and hailed the Abu Raad Khazem’s family as a “national icon of resistance.”
“Resistance is the sole way to defeat the occupation and expel it from our land,” Haniyeh said. “This blood and sacrifices will not be in vain, and our people are walking on the very path towards liberation.”
