TEHRAN (IBNA) -- A philosophical novel ‘The Anomaly’ (2020) by French writer and linguist Hervé ‎Le Tellier which portrays human doubts and horrors has been republished in Persian ‎and is available in Iranian bookstores. ‎
The novel which describes confrontation of logic and superstition has been translated again into Persian by Fatemeh Ebrahimian and Mohammad Amin Baik. Tehran-based Nashr-e No has released ‘The Anomaly’ in 374 pages.
A mystery about uncanny plane flights and doubles and a philosophical book on the human condition. The novel is constantly surprising, inventive and funny.
Organized like a “novel of novels”, L’Anomalie begins with the presentation of several characters, in as many chapters written according to the stylistic codes of different genres, from thriller to the psychological novel, from littérature blanche to the introspective narrative. The reader quickly understands that an event, the “anomaly” of a Paris–New York flight in March 2021, is the link between all these characters.
An Oulipian work, it is structured around three parts, Aussi noir que le ciel, La vie est un songe dit-on, and La chanson du néant, whose names are taken from the poetry of Raymond Queneau. The novel asks several questions about the reality of the world and fiction.
Hervé Le Tellier is a writer, journalist, mathematician, food critic, and teacher. He has been a member of the Oulipo group since 1992 and one of the “papous” of the famous France Culture radio show. He has published fifteen books of stories, essays, and novels, including ‘Enough About Love’ (Other Press, 2011), ‘The Sextine Chapel’ (Dalkey Archive Press, 2011), and ‘A Thousand Pearls’ (Dalkey Archive Press, 2011).
