President Raisi Holds Talks With Swiss Counterpart
TEHRAN – Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi on Monday expressed hope that cooperation between the Islamic Republic and Switzerland will expand.
In a message, Raisi congratulated his Swiss counterpart Ignazio Cassis on the country’s National Day which is celebrated on August 1.
The Iranian president expressed hope that relations between Tehran and Bern would grow within the framework of mutual interests and according to a road map defined by the two states.
“I believe the historic, dynamic and amicable relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Swiss Confederation have provided a suitable ground for the maximal exploitation of the diverse capacities available in the ties between the two nations,” Raisi said.
Last October, Raisi called on the Swiss government to preserve its independent role in the face of unilateral U.S. policies.
“Switzerland has always played a positive role in maintaining and promoting peace, and is expected to be able in the new era to preserve its independent role in the face of the U.S.’ unilateral policies,” the Iranian president said.
