Canada’s GREF to Host Zaferanieh Near Sunset
TEHRAN -- The Grand River Film Festival (GRFF) in Canada will play host to Iranian feature movie ‘Zaferanieh near Sunset’.
The film, directed by Muhammad Kharratzadeh-Astim, will be among the competing titles to hit the screen at the Feature Film Competition section of the 14th edition of the Canadian event.
A brief synopsis for the drama on drug addiction ‘Zaferanieh near Sunset’ reads, “In a society full of economical problems, those who find themselves at the bottom suffer the most. This film is about the relationships of the addicted, and the struggles of those who try to dig themselves out of a problem only to find they are going deeper.”
Produced by Adnan Ka Pousian, the film’s cast list includes Nasim Adabi, Nazanin Karimi, Iman Safa, Hamidreza Hedayati, and Saber Nasseri.
The film has already participated in various film events, including the Women’s Cinema & Arts International Film Festival in India and the Pambuja International Film Festival in the Philippines, where it grabbed the best film award.
The First Screen Film Distribution, headed by Solmaz Etemad, is in charge of the international distribution of the film.
The GRFF is an arts and culture group dedicated to bringing the best independent cinema to the Region of Waterloo.
This year’s edition of the festival will take place on May 11-15.
