Award Winning Children’s Documentary Off to Qatar
TEHRAN (IFILM) -- The Ajyal Film Festival in Qatar has been screening Iranian documentary ‘Shadegan’.
Directed by Ako Salemi, the documentary is taking part in the 9th edition of the Qatari event.
The film depicts a day in the life of a 12-year-old fisherman on his boat in Shadegan wetlands in Iran’s southwestern province of Khuzestan.
The boat is the young man’s second home and the source of his family’s livelihood.
‘Shadegan’ won the Award for Best Children’s Documentary at the 2020 edition of the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) in the Netherlands.
The documentary also participated in global events such as the Visions du Réel Film Festival in Switzerland and the New Orleans Film Festival in the U.S.
Iranian feature ‘A Hero’ by Asghar Farhadi opened this year’s edition of the Ajyal Film Festival.
The ninth edition of the Ajyal Film Festival, presented by the Doha Film Institute, has been slated for November 7-13, 2021.
The 2020 edition of the Ajyal Film Festival picked Iranian movie ‘Sun Children’ by Majid Majidi as the best film.
