TEHRAN (IBNA) -- The 2nd Biennial International Conference of the Society of Iranian Archaeology ‎titled “Archaeology, Public and Cultural Heritage Management in Iran and Aniran” will ‎be held as a webinar on Wednesday.‎
The opening ceremony of this online event will be attended by archeologists and experts of Iranian cultural heritage from Afghanistan, Iraq, England, France, the United States and Poland, Iran’s Cultural Heritage and Tourism Research Institute reported.
The webinar will officially kick off by holding specialized meetings and speeches to be made by prominent and veteran academics of Iranian archeology such as Hekmatollah Molla-Salehi from the University of Tehran; Mansour Seyyed Sajjadi, head of archeological excavations team in Shahr-e Sukhteh; and Abbas Alizadeh, a member of the Institute of Oriental Studies at the University of Chicago.
Shahr-e Sukhteh is an archaeological site of a sizable Bronze Age urban settlement, associated with the Helmand culture. It is located in Sistan and Baluchistan Province, the southeastern part of Iran on the bank of the Helmand River, near the Zahedan-Zabol road. It was placed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in June 2014.
Iranian and foreign experts will discuss various subjects in the event such as archeology and people; archeology and sustainable development; current archaeological challenges and endangered historical sites; archeology and national and regional identities and so forth.
