It is indeed heartening to note the pace of progress of the new Iranian administration which seems to have fully gauged the importance of every passing hour and is determined to make the most of it in order to resolve the issues of the country.
Last Wednesday, President Hojjat al-Islam Ibrahim Raisi’s list of ministers got the vote of confidence from the parliament and the next day the whole cabinet formally started work by visiting the shrine of the Father of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini (RA) to renew allegiance to his ideals.
On Friday, the weekly holiday, the President, along with the ministers of Energy, Interior, Agriculture Jihad, Health, and the head of the Plan and Budget Organization, flew to the southwestern province of Khuzestan where people are currently plagued by a rare water crisis as well as the Coronavirus pandemic.
The President and his ministers divided inspection work among themselves by visiting various units and holding a series of meeting with officials and the local people to ensure the peace and progress of this vital border province.
On Saturday, the anniversary of the martyrdom of President Mohammad Ali Rajaie and Prime Minister Hojjat al-Islam Mohammad Javad Bahonar, the Leader of the Revolution granted audience to the president and the cabinet to give them the necessary guidelines after a brief reference to the current issues of the country and the region, including the situation in Afghanistan and the predatory nature of the US regime, which can never be trusted.
Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei rightly remarked: “Time passes by very fast. These four years will finish quickly. Therefore, you should use every hour and every opportunity. You should not allow this time, which belongs to the people and Islam, to be wasted.”
Later yesterday, the President in view of his heavy responsibilities at home dispatched Foreign Minister Hussein Amir-Abdollahian to Baghdad to attend a regional summit attended by the heads of state of Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, France, and Host Iraq, as well as the prime minister of Kuwait, and the foreign ministers of Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.
A seasoned diplomat with impeccable revolutionary credentials, Amir Abdollahian in his first trip abroad as the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic, paid glowing tributes to the martyrs, Iran’s General Qassem Soleimani and Iraq’s Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, on landing at Baghdad international airport and visiting the spot on which these two icons of the campaign against terrorism were martyred in January 2020 in a cowardly manner by the Americans.
He reiterated Iran’s avowed vengeance on the dastardly perpetrators of this unpardonable crime.
At the conference in Baghdad, in his speech Amir Abdollahian reaffirmed Iran’s support for the friendly and fraternal people of Iraq, and calling for the exit of all occupation forces, presented to the attendees Tehran’s viewpoints on peace and cooperation among the countries of the region, without any dependence on outside forces.
Meanwhile, President Raisi who well before the parliament’s approval of his cabinet has been actively mobilizing all efforts to immunize all countrymen against the Covid-19 pandemic has succeeded in importing vast quantities of vaccination doses from abroad in addition to increased production of these antidotes by Iranian researchers at home.
The people are awaiting concrete results, including in the sector of economy and have high hopes on the president to bring down the runaway inflation and sky high prices of all basic commodities, including foodstuff.
