TEHRAN (FNA) - Iranian handmade carpet has been registered by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Director of Iran National Carpet Center Farahnaz Rafe’ said.
Rafe’ said that WIPO has registered Iran’s handmade carpet, adding, “From now on, Iran’s hand-woven carpet will be exported with the WIPO badge to preserve the authenticity and identity of the Iranian art in the international arena.”
She described the global registration of Iran’s handwoven carpets as a great move for preserving this genuine art industry.
WIPO is one of the 17 specialized agencies of the United Nations, which was set up in 1967 to encourage creative activity and promote the protection of intellectual property across the world.
In relevant remarks in February, Rafe’ said that Iran’s export of handwoven carpet had increased by 14 percent compared to the previous year.
