200 MPs Set Iran’s Conditions:

Complete Removal of Sanctions

TEHRAN (Dispatches) -- Iran’s parliament on Tuesday stressed the country’s “definitive” demand for a “real removal” of U.S. sanctions, followed by a “meticulous verification” of the step.
In a statement, 200 MPs stressed their demand for a real removal of all the sanctions and a rigorous verification of the process, calling it “the essential condition for Iran’s commitment to its nuclear obligations”.
The U.S. reimposed the sanctions in 2018 after unilaterally leaving the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). Under Article 26 of the JCPOA allowing a signatory to use its rights in case of non-compliance by other parties, Iran scaled back its compliance after a year of waiting.
Since April 6, talks have been underway between Iran and the remaining members of the JCPOA to discuss the modality of Washington’s return to the nuclear deal and removing its sanctions.
The lawmakers said any talks between Iran and the other countries about the matter could only be judged as productive if they enabled the Islamic Republic to “draw true economic benefits” from the JCPOA.
They also strictly ruled out any partial removal of the sanctions that could retain some of the economic pressure on the Iranian nation.
“The U.S. should be completely, verifiably, and irreversibly disarmed of the sanctions weapon,” they said. “If the sanctions are not removed 100 percent, it is as if none of them has been lifted.”
The MPs regretted that the Vienna talks so far have shown that neither does the United States nor its European allies in the deal — the UK, France, and Germany — have a serious determination to remove the sanctions.
The U.S. and the Europeans, they said, are even trying to impose further restrictions on Iran and pave the way for including the Islamic Republic’s defensive and regional influence in the nuclear agreement, the statement said.
Succumbing to the enemies’ excessive demands will seriously damage Iran’s nuclear program and its achievements, the lawmakers said.
They also said nuclear activities have contributed to Iran’s economy in such areas as clean energy and environmental protection, pharmaceutics, and agriculture.
Earlier, Haniyeh had offered his warm gratitude to Iran in a phone call with the Leader’s advisor Ali Akbar Velyati.
“Through your Excellency, I would like to send my regards to the Leader and the people of Iran and emphasize that the Islamic Republic of Iran is one of the leading countries in supporting the cause of Palestine and Holy al-Quds,” he had said.

Islamic Jihad head Ziyad al-Nakhalah had also hailed Ayatollah Khamenei’s brave and unique stance on the Palestinian issue in a separate telephone conversation with Velayati.
The Palestinian people, he said, have succeeded in achieving great victories, resisting the Israeli regime and thwarting a Zionist-American plot.
