Syrian Army Continues Fight Against Terrorists in Aleppo
DAMASCUS (FNA) – Informed sources in the Northern battlefields confirmed that the Syrian Army has staged fresh rounds of operations against the terrorists’ gatherings in Aleppo city and its countryside.
The sources told the FNA that concentration centers of the ISIL Takfiri terrorists in the surrounding areas of the Air Force Academy on Raqqa highway were raided by the army men, who forced the fighters to retreat from the battlefront.
Takfiri terrorists' hideouts in al-Shakif area and Haritan town and Anadan city were massively targeted by the army, said the sources, adding that several terrorists were killed in the operations.
In Aleppo city, the army attacked the terrorist gatherings in the neighborhoods of al-Sheikh Lutfi, al-Marjeh, al-Salhiyeh, Al-Lareramoun, the old city of Aleppo, Hanano, Bustan al-Bacha, al-Halk, al-Jandoul and Be’din.
On Saturday, he Syrian army thwarted a massive attack by the ISIL terrorists to take control of several strategic towns and townships in Northern Syria.
The Takfiri terrorists attacked a number of towns in the vicinity of the strategic city of Souran in Aleppo, but were repelled by the army.
Over 20 ISIL terrorists were killed by the army on the outskirts of Souran and nearby towns and townships as they were trying to enter the city.
The Syrian forces also attacked the ISIL’s positions in Tal Maled village near the same city.
Syria has been grappling with a deadly crisis since March 2011. The violence fuelled by Takfiri groups has so far claimed the lives of over 210,000 people, according to reports. New figures show that over 76,000 people, including thousands of children, lost their lives in Syria last year.
