Milestones in Iranian Women’s Rights

The Islamic Republic of Iran’s first-ever all-women flight is definitely another milestone in the rights, liberties, and capabilities of Iranian women, starting from morally upright upbringing of children to ensure the healthy future of the society to the scientific-technological spheres as part of the dynamic progress of the country.
Sunday’s Tehran-to-Mashhad ‘feminine flight’ with 110 female pilgrims and crew on board was on the auspicious birth anniversary of the Noblest-ever lady, Hazrat Fatema az-Zahra (SA) whose multifaceted personality as the daughter, wife, mother, and teacher of the society, has continued to inspire Muslim women in Iran and abroad for the past millennium and four centuries.
This is yet another undeniable proof of the freedom the Hijab grants to females to help them strive in constructive and creative fields as the perfectly virtuous counterparts to the progressive males.
To the Father of the Islamic Revolution do we owe the transformation of the Iranian women in view of his many practical steps and encouraging statements in this regard, one of which reads:
“If nations were deprived of courageous women, of women to rear true human beings, they would decline and collapse.”
Indeed Imam Khomeini (AS) with his unique and enlightened way of thinking and without departing from the Islamic traditions put Iranian women firmly on the pedestal of honour and dignity.
Born on Jamadi al-Akher 20 (in 1902), the blessed birthday of the Infallible Daughter of Prophet Muhammad (SAWA), to him the nation will always remain indebted.
Hazrat Fatema Zahra (SA), as the ideal wife of Imam Ali ibn Abi Taleb (AS) – the Commander of the Faithful, the exemplary mother to the Immaculate Sons Imam Hasan (AS) and Imam Husain (AS), and the Impeccable Daughters Hazrat Zainab (SA) and Hazrat Omm Kulsoum (SA), was also the perfect teacher for the women of Medina.
She was the paragon of virtue and clarifier of truths in all constructive fields, including fulfillment of obligations, religious affairs, social justice, administrative matters, defence of the Divinely-Decreed Leadership, and steadfastness against deviation and falsity.
These characteristics of hers were enumerated yesterday in his speech to a large gathering in Tehran by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, who said:
The entirety of her life, especially during the brief period after the Prophet’s passing away, was continuously spent on clarifying the truths and solid foundations of the [Islamic] religion. This serves as a model and a pinnacle that, while it may never be fully reached, should always be the direction toward which we strive.”
Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei noted that that taking the characteristics of Hazrat Fatema Zahra (SA) as a model is the way to attract the love of that unique personality, adding: “One of the most important of these characteristics is the continuous clarification of the truth. In fact, eulogies are a continuation of this jihad of clarification.”
