SANAA (Dispatches) – At least a dozen people, including a woman and some children, have lost their lives and several others sustained injuries when Saudi military aircraft conducted a string of airstrikes against various areas across Yemen.
Saudi jets launched three aerial attacks against an outdoor market in the Nihm district of the western-central province of Sana’a on Tuesday morning, killing a little girl and two other civilians. Several people were also injured in the assaults, Arabic-language al-Masirah TV reported.
Eight people were killed and 15 others injured shortly afterwards when Saudi warplanes struck a nearby school.
Shabawah area in Ta’izz Province was also hit, though no reports of casualties were available.
Moreover, Saudi warplanes pounded an area in the Monabbih district of the mountainous northwestern province of Sa’ada as well. There were no immediate reports of casualties and the extent of damage.
A woman also lost her life on Monday night, when Saudi jets carried out a strike in the same Yemeni province.
Meanwhile, Yemeni army snipers, supported by fighters from allied Popular Committees, shot dead two Saudi troops in the kingdom’s southwestern border region of Jizan in retaliation to the Riyadh regime’s atrocious military campaign against its southern neighbor.
The Saudi troops were killed in the al-Farizeh military base of Jizan region, located 969 kilometers south of the capital, Riyadh, on Tuesday.
In another development, two days of severe clashes in the Bab al-Mandeb strait between fighters of the Houthi Ansarullah movement and pro-Hadi troops have claimed the lives of some 70 soldiers from both sides.
Some 70 other forces were also injured in Saturday clashes which erupted when forces loyal to Yemen’s resigned president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi launched an operation aimed at taking the coastal district of Dhubab, north of the strait which connects the Indian Ocean and the Red Sea.
According to reports, Hadi-loyalist army commander Brigadier-General Abdul Aziz al-Majidi was killed in the clashes in which a large amount of equipment and arms were also destroyed.
The Saudi war on Yemen, which has killed at least 11,400 Yemenis, was launched in an unsuccessful attempt to reinstate the former government.
The Saudi war has also taken a heavy toll on the country’s facilities and infrastructure, destroying many hospitals, schools and factories.
