Terrorist Attack on IRGC Base Thwarted
TEHRAN – Iran’s border guards killed a terrorist trying to attack an Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) base in the southeastern Sistan and Balouchestan province.
The incident took place on Monday morning, the IRGC Ground Force’s Quds Base said in a statement.
The armed assailant tried to attack the information headquarters of the intelligence and IRGC department of Saravan, but was neutralized thanks to the timely reaction the guards, it said.
According to the statement, the armed attacker was killed and another injured in the incident. The IRGC said further details will be released later.
Saravan is some 40 kilometers from the border with Pakistan.
The IRGC is tasked with protecting the country’s northwestern and southeastern borders.
