As Iran COVID Deaths Fall Below 20,

President Calls for Gradual Opening of Public Places

TEHRAN – President Ebrahim Raisi on Saturday called for arrangements to allow people to attend exhibitions and matches in stadiums in compliance with coronavirus protocols.
He told a meeting of the coronavirus task force that sports events and exhibitions across the country should be held in strict accordance with the health protocols and with the limited presence of visitors and spectators.
The president assigned related bodies to cooperate with the health ministry on reopening of live events.
Raisi hailed a remarkable decline in the number of coronavirus cases and deaths in Iran but also stressed the need to continue strict compliance with the health protocols.
On Saturday, Iran recorded one of its lowest coronavirus caseloads, with only 18 people losing their lives from the respiratory disease in the past 24 hours and fewer than 200 patients hospitalized across the country, the ministry said.
The deaths took the overall toll to 132,044. The ministry also registered 1,421 new cases, up from 6,218,700 recorded so far.
According to the health ministry, more than 60.28 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine. More than 53.06 million have been administered the second jab, while over 12.2 million have gotten the booster shots.
