Prominent Children’s Author Honored at Short Film Festival
TEHRAN (IBNA) -- Renowned Iranian poet, author of children’s book and screenwriter Ahmad-Reza Ahmadi will be honored at an Iranian Selfie 20 Short Film Festival in Tehran which will be held online.
Ahmadi will be esteemed in the special section of the festival titled “Cinema Poetry” for his lifetime achievements in the field of Iranian modern poetry.
The history of Persian modern poetry calls him the founder of New Wave Poetry in Iran which also later influenced Iranian story, play, theater, cinema and painting. That was due to his mastery of Classical Persian literature and poetry as well as Persian modern poetry.
Born in 1940 in the city of Kerman, Ahmadi’s first book of poetry, Tarh (Sketch), was published in 1962. His poetry has its roots in French Surrealism and the American Imagists especially in poets like Saint John Perse, Paul Eluard, Louis Aragon and Ezra Pound.
Ahmadi was the selected poet of 2006 in the Fifth Persian Award of Bijan Jalali, and he was nominated for the Hans Christian Andersen Prize in 2009.
Among his poetry books are ‘Glass Newspaper’, ‘Good Time of Miseries’, ‘I Simply Cried Over the Horse’s Whiteness’, ‘We Are on Earth’ and ‘At the End of the Grey Night’.
