Other Nations Must Follow Iran’s Example
ISLAMABAD (IRNA) --
Deputy amir of Pakistan’s top Islamic party says the seizure of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran in 1979 was a courageous act and that other nations should learn from the brave Iranian nation how to resist the pressure of imperialist forces.
Liaqat Baloch of Jamaat-e-Islami said before the victory of the Islamic Revolution, the Iranian Shah was the only representative of the U.S. in the region, who always forwarded the American policies against the aspirations of his own people.
“At that time Imam Khomeini (RA) led his nation and toppled the authoritarian regime of Shah through an Islamic Revolution with the support of Iranian nation,” he said.
“He taught aggressors that people’s will is the supreme and their rights should be protected,” Baloch added.
He went on to say that the U.S. fully backed the Shah by all means against the Islamic Revolution and the Shah used all kinds of aggressive measures against his people to stop them from pursuing the true path.
Baloch said the seizure of the U.S. embassy in Tehran in 1979 was a natural reaction of the Iranian nation as it was the symbol of imperialist forces in the region.
“The embassy was captured by the brave Iranian people who had deep faith in Islam and showed to the world and imperialist forces that they will not bow to the American pressure,” he said.
Baloch said the incident proved that the U.S. is not the owner of the world rather the peoples’ will was supreme.
The recent developments in Afghanistan, he added, have revived the true spirit of the Islamic Revolution. He said the people of Afghanistan should learn from the brave Iranian nation how to resist the pressure of imperialist forces.
Liaqat Baloch said it is proved in history that people cannot be made slaves through arrogance and weapons.
Muslims, he added, have to shun their differences and follow the path of unity to undermine all conspiracies against them.
He also said unity is the key to the success of Muslims.
Aban 13 marks the seizure of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran in 1979 and is a national day in the Islamic Revolution. The day is also known as the Student Day in Iran, marking the National Day of Protest against Global Arrogance.
Every year, rallies are held all over Iran on the anniversary of the takeover to commemorate the event.
