Syrian Air Defenses Respond to Zionist Aggression

DAMASCUS (Dispatches) – The Zionist regime has launched an aerial aggression with a number of missiles targeting an area on the outskirts of the Syrian capital of Damascus, Syrian state TV said early on Wednesday, citing a military source.
Syrian news agency SANA confirmed the raids and said they caused only material damage.
The Syrian state TV added that the attack resulted in “some material damage.”
SANA reported the Zionist aggression took place in the town of Zakia, in the western Damascus countryside, in the early hours of Wednesday.
“At approximately 12:56 a.m. today, the Israeli enemy carried out an air aggression with a number of missiles from the direction of northern occupied Palestine, targeting a point in Damascus countryside in the Zakia area, which led to some material losses,” SANA quoted a military source as saying.
There were no immediate reports of possible casualties and the news agency gave no details on the sites targeted.
Syrian air defenses responded to the missiles that had been launched from over northern parts of the occupied territories. The strike comes less than a week after Syrian air defenses intercepted missiles over the same area.
The occupying regime frequently targets military positions inside Syria, especially those for Hezbollah, which has played a key role in helping the Syrian army in its fight against the foreign-backed terrorists.
In another development, the Russian army’s aerial and ground units reportedly staged a military exercise in Syria’s northern province of Aleppo, where militants affiliated with the U.S.-backed so-called Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) are in control.
Local sources were reported as saying that the Russian forces held drills in Abu Soura and Sareen regions on Tuesday.
The sources said a fighter jet as well as two attack helicopters took part in the maneuvers.
They added that live munitions were used during the military exercise, as the Russian military aircraft carried out bombing operations against designated targets.
The development came a day after Russian helicopters overflew Tall Abyad town in northern Syria, as they were on a reconnaissance mission in the area.
Syrian government forces conducted military maneuvers on the outskirts of Tall Tamr town in the western part of the country’s northeastern al-Hasakah province on Sunday. Russian jets flew at low altitude during the drills and launched anti-missile flares.
