The War that Boomeranged Against the Aggressors

By: Kayhan Int’l Staff Writer

Today, the nation commemorates the 41st anniversary of the 8-year devastating war the US regime had imposed on the nascent Islamic Republic of Iran through its agent, Saddam, of the repressive Ba’th minority regime of Baghdad.
Following the miserable failure of Operation Eagle Claws in the sands of Tabas on 24th April 1980 and the inability of the Americans to launch coups through remnants of their agents in the armed forces against the grassroots Islamic system of government, the Jimmy Carter regime ordered the Ba’thists to launch a full scale attack on Iran, thinking that the revolution had weakened the country.
Here, it would be tedious to repeat how on 22nd September 1980, Saddam dreaming of leadership of the Arab world, launched surprise air attacks on ten Iranian cities, including the capital Tehran, intending to destroy the Iranian air force but failed in his objective. And the next day, he sent six heavily mechanized divisions across the border into Iran, hoping to seize the oilfields of Khuzestan, but became bogged down as a result of the fierce resistance of the Iranian defenders.
The intention here is not to detail the swift Iranian air force retaliation on September 23 to the surprise of the cowardly enemy in Operation Kaman 99 that destroyed several oil facilities, dams, petrochemical plants, and oil refineries, including the Mosul Airbase, Baghdad, and the Kirkuk oil refinery.
Time and space neither permit us to mention the destruction of almost the whole Iraqi navy on November 29 in a single sea battle, nor the series of victories of Iran’s Muslim combatants that culminated in the liberation of Khorramshahr in May 1982 and the pushing back of the Ba’thist forces to the pre-war border lines, to the horror of the US, Britain, France, West Germany, the Soviet Union, Israel, Egypt, the oil-rich Persian Gulf states, and the whole western capitalist and eastern communist blocs.
The treason of the MKO hypocrites in openly siding with Saddam against their homeland and the devastating defeat these traitors suffered in Operation Mersad in August 1988 that brought the 8-year war to its end, is also out of context.
What is important to note today is the fate of all those who had sided with the aggressor, who has now long vanished from the scene along with his anti-people Ba’thist regime, while Iraq and the Iraqi people are solidly aligned with their brethren in Iran – an undeniable proof that the enemies’ bid to create bad blood between the two brotherly nations, has utterly failed.
The Soviet Union has disintegrated and is no more. In Egypt, Anwar Sadaat was revolutionary executed in October 1981 and thirty years later his equally sinister successor, Hosni Mubarak, was thrown into the dustbin of history.
The regimes in London and France are today mere shadows of their former self. The Persian Gulf sheikhdoms are struggling for survival, with Bahrain soon to get rid of the repressive Aal-e Khalifa minority regime. The military myth of the Zionists was shattered in 2006 during the 33-day in Lebanon by the legendry anti-terrorist movement, the Hezbollah which like the resurgent Palestinians and the Syrians, is inspired by the Islamic Revolution of the Iranian people.
Yemen, with its capital of Sana’a, has today turned into a strong bastion of support for the Islamic Republic of Iran, thanks to the grassroots Ansarallah Movement, which has got rid of Saddam’s friend, the traitor Ali Abdullah Saleh, and has unnerved the Wahhabi regime in Riyadh through its determined retaliation against Saudi Arabia’s ongoing state terrorism against the Yemeni people.
As for the US, the Great Satan, as pointed out by the Commander of the Islamic Revolution’s Guards Corps (IRGC), Hussain Salami, it is “on the downward slope of defeat and decadence.”
Insha Allah (God Willing), the criminal American aggressors, now fleeing from all fronts will soon be cut to their size and cease to terrorize Iran, the Muslim Ummah, and the free world.
