Foreign Ministry Sympathizes With Victims of Shooting in Russia

TEHRAN - The Iranian foreign ministry on Tuesday expressed regret over the shooting incident at Perm University in Russia, and sympathized with the victims and their families.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh expressed regret over the shooting incident at Perm University in Russia, which killed and injured a number of Russian citizens, extending his condolences to the families of the victims and wishing rapid recovery for the injured.
A gunman has killed six people and injured 28 others at a university in the Russian city of Perm.
The assailant, identified as a student at the university, walked on to campus on Monday morning and started shooting.
Students and teachers barricaded themselves inside the university building, while others were seen screaming and jumping from windows.
Authorities said the attacker was shot in an exchange of gunfire with a police officer and then detained.
Officer Konstanin Kalinin, who was one of the first to arrive at the scene, disarmed the assailant, who had a gun and a knife, before administering first aid.
