Volleyballers Thrash Thailand at Asian Championship
CHIBA, Japan – Iran defeated Thailand in straight sets (25–17, 25–12, 25–18) in Pool B of the 2021 Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship on Monday.
Team Melli had defeated Hong Kong 3-0 on Sunday and is scheduled to meet Pakistan on Tuesday.
The defending champion is headed by Behrouz Ataei in this edition. Iran volleyball federation has sent a young team to the tournament underway in Chiba, Japan.
In the past 20 Asian championships, only five different teams have captured the eventual titles. Japan has won nine titles, while Korea claimed four, China and Iran shared three apiece and Australia won one.
