Iran Celebrates Defense Achievements on National Day

TEHRAN -- The Iranian Defense Ministry says Iran is expanding its defense efforts beyond the borders of the country, in an apparent message of deterrence to the occupying regime of Israel and the West.
“Our country has an important role to play in strengthening the resistance front and expanding the radius of defense of national security beyond the borders of the country,” the ministry said in a message for Defense Industries Day.
The ministry stated that Iran’s military plan includes “strengthening the defensive force and constantly updating the ability to deal with the threats of our enemies.”
“We will not hesitate to strengthen our military capabilities, including the missile program designed solely for defense purposes,” it added.
The Islamic Republic of Iran Army also said the country’s defense sector has turned into a strong arena to deliver a decisive response to the enemies’ sanctions and threats.
“August 22 provides an opportunity to honor the zealous men who relied on their domestic power and elevated the country’s defense deterrence to a level that has brought the Islamic Iran to the peak in various fields of land, air and naval defense and made it a model for other freedom-seeking nations of the world,” it said.
“The field of defense industry is one of the important areas that the sworn enemies of the Islamic Revolution have always tried to weaken and prevent its progress, growth and prosperity through the imposition of various sanctions since the victory of the Islamic Revolution,” it added.
“However, thanks to the measures taken by the late founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini and Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the defense industry was turned from a threat facing the establishment into an irreplaceable opportunity for the country. It also provided a strong arena to meet the needs of the Armed Forces and respond decisively to the enemies’ sanctions and threats.”
The Army further said the Defense Ministry has always shown that cruel sanctions have boosted the will of the country’s committed and revolutionary youths to achieve self-confidence in manufacturing indigenous defense equipment and upgrade Iran’s military position.
Commemorating Iranian martyrs in the defense sector, the Army stressed that it will spare no efforts to help the young and committed specialists “in the path of scientific jihad to obtain advanced technologies and strategic weapons in various fields of land, air and naval defense.”
Iranian military experts and technicians have in recent years made great progress in indigenously developing and manufacturing a broad range of equipment, making the armed forces self-sufficient in this regard.
Iranian officials have repeatedly underscored that the Islamic Republic will not hesitate to build up its defense capabilities, emphasizing that such abilities are entirely meant for the purpose of defense and will be never subject to negotiations.
An Iranian Defense Ministry general said Sunday that thanks to the Islamic Republic’s remarkable progress in electronics industry and radar technologies, the country is among the world’s top five powers in electronic warfare.
General Shahrokh Shahram, the CEO of Iran Electronics Industries, a subsidiary of the Iranian Defense Ministry, said the era of reverse engineering in the electronics industry in Iran is over.
Local experts are currently designing and manufacturing super advanced electronic technologies and components, and with their achievements Iran is ranked among the world’s top five powers in this sector, he added.
Pointing to modern wars in which the enemy hits targets from a long distance, the general said Iran has developed special monitoring equipment and radar systems to deal with threats.
“This technology is at the disposal of only five countries, and we have also acquired it.”
Gen. Shahram said the Iran Electronics Industries Organization works in collaboration with over 600 universities and 900 knowledge-based companies to fulfill the demands of the Iranian Armed Forces.
The key to success in modern warfare is creation of communication networks, Shahram said, adding Iranian experts have developed indigenous systems and have crippled the enemy’s eavesdropping capabilities by encrypting communication data.
In comments last month, Air Defense Commander Brigadier General Alireza Sabahi Fard said Iran’s significant advances in the air defense industry have turned the country into one of the world’s top powers with the capability to detect every aerial object in its airspace and outside its borders.
