Annual Handicrafts Exports Reach $1.8bn in Iran

TEHRAN - Iranian Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Ali Asghar Mounesan said that his country exported 1.8 billion dollars of various handicrafts in the last calendar year.
Mounesan announced that the exports of Iran’s handicrafts, exclusive of traditional pieces of jewelry and suitcase trade, were worth 1.8 billion dollars by the end of the previous year.
He added that the country owes this revenue to the efforts made by artists and industrialists, especially ladies who comprise a major part of the artists in this field.

WIPO Registers Iran’s
Handwoven Carpet

Director of Iran National Carpet Center Farahnaz Rafe’ said Iranian handmade carpet has been registered by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
Rafe’ said that WIPO has registered Iran’s handmade carpet, adding, “From now on, Iran’s hand-woven carpet will be exported with the WIPO badge to preserve the authenticity and identity of the Iranian art in the international aren
She described the global registration of Iran’s handwoven carpets as a great move for preserving this genuine art industry.
WIPO is one of the 17 specialized agencies of the United Nations, which was set up in 1967 to encourage creative activity and promote the protection of intellectual property across the world.
In February, Rafe’ said that Iran’s export of handwoven carpet had increased by 14 percent compared to the previous year.
