‘Untimely’ Hits Silverscreens at Germany’s Visions of Iran Festival
TEHRAN (IFILM) -- ‘Untimely’ has been scheduled to go on screen at the Iranian Film Festival Cologne (Visions of Iran) in Germany.
Directed by Pouya Eshtehardi, the feature film is about a young private, Hamin, doing his military service in a watchtower at the border of Iran and Pakistan.
Up in the watchtower, Hamin reviews the past events in his life that include what has happened to him and his sister since their childhood.
Impatient for a day off to attend his sister’s wedding ceremony, he gets into a fight with his commander.
The cast list of ‘Untimely’ includes Iman Afshar, Shayan Afshar, Mahsa Narouee, Ava Azarpira, Ayyoub Afshar, and Molabakhsh Raeesi.
The movie has been presented at some global events and received a number of awards, including best feature film and best editing awards at the Asian Cinematography Awards, best film, best director and best cinematography awards at the Tokyo independent films celebration in Japan, as well as Best World Cinema Feature Award at the Kansas CityFilmFest International in the U.S.
The Asian Movie Pulse website picked it as one of the 20 Best West Asian Films of 2020 and wrote “‘Untimely’ is a rather impressive feature debut by Pouya Eshhehardi, especially in terms of visual storytelling. Supported by a committed lead performance by Iman Afshar, it is a provoking, often confusing story about guilt being a downward spiral in which a person can get caught quite easily.”
The 2021 edition of the Visions of Iran is scheduled to take place online in Cologne, Germany on June 10-20.
