Source: Iraq’s Intelligence Officer Assassinated in Baghdad

BAGHDAD (Xinhua) – Unidentified gunmen killed on Monday a senior officer of the Iraqi National Intelligence Service (INIS) in Iraqi capital Baghdad, a security source said.
“Unidentified gunmen assassinated today an officer affiliated with the intelligence service, east of the capital, Baghdad,” the security source said.
Nibras Farman, an INIS officer, was shot dead when gunmen opened fire on him with their silenced weapons in front of his house in al-Baladiyat neighborhood in eastern Baghdad, an Interior Ministry source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
The source also said that the security forces launched an investigation into the incident.
In March, unidentified gunmen assassinated Mohammed Laith, another officer of the INIS, in Mansour neighborhood in western Baghdad.
The Iraqi government has yet to comment on the incident.
