Some Key Issues Remain to Be Settled in Vienna Talks

TEHRAN - Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh has reacted to comments by Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia’s representative at the JCPOA Joint Commission, who has indicated that the current negotiations in Vienna could be the last and final round of talks.
“We once again announce the position of the Islamic Republic of Iran; we carefully move forward with the talks we are holding in Vienna,” Khatibzadeh said.
“Any round of talks could have been the last one, but the negotiations continued as some issues had still remained unresolved,” said the spokesman.
“If the outstanding key issues are settled, the talks could be the last round, but otherwise, they will continue,” he said.
“Basically, we shouldn’t rush to judgment about which round of talks could be the last one,” he noted.
“Good and considerable progress has been made with the negotiations in all three working groups, but key issues remain. These issues should be settled carefully, too,” the spokesman added.
And also, Iran’s chief negotiator in Vienna talks Abbas Araqchi said that no final decision has been made yet in Vienna on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, adding that the delegations will be back home once again for further consultations.
Araqchi said that the negotiating teams have not reached a definite solution on the JCPOA, and noted that they will return to their countries for more consultations on the issue.
He said that all sides have reached the main issues of disagreement.
The deputy foreign minister underscored that he is not personally sure if they will reach a conclusion during this round of talks.

Iran, Russia, China Continue Talks on JCPOA

On Monday, senior diplomats from Iran, Russia and China discussed the case of a 2015 Iran nuclear deal – known as JCPOA – in a meeting in Vienna.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of new round of talks between Iran and the G4+1 – Britain, France, Russia, China and Germany – to explore ways for reviving the multinational accord.
Araqchi, Chinese representative WANG Qun and Russian diplomat Mikhail Ulyanov, headed the talks between Iran, China, and Russia.
The participating parties say that the talks have made good progress and a final agreement is within reach.
