Qalibaf Re-Elected as Parliament Speaker

 

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian lawmakers elected Muhammad Baqer Qalibaf as the speaker of the parliament for the second year on Wednesday.
During an open session of the parliament, the MPs voted to choose members of the parliament’s presiding board. Qalibaf remained in the post by garnering 230 votes. Ali Nikzad and Abdolreza Mesri were also elected as the vice speakers. The Iranian parliament currently has 290 representatives. The last parliamentary polls were held in February 2019.
