TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Head coach of Iran national volleyball team Vladimir Alekno said Team Melli is going to play two friendly matches with Argentina and France in Tokyo, Japan.
Iran has been pitted against Japan, Poland, Italy, Canada and Venezuela in Pool A in the 2020 Olympic Games. Brazil, USA, Russia, Argentina, France and Tunisia are in Pool B.
The Russian coach said in a news conference on Tuesday they have negotiated with the world’s volleyball giants to play friendly.
“We have talked to Argentina and France coaches to play friendly matches in Tokyo. The matches will be held as part of preparation for the Olympic games ahead of the event,” Alekno said.
“The 2021 Volleyball Nations League is also an opportunity for us to test our team for the Olympic Games. We can use our young players in the competition in Italy,” he added.
