Egypt Disappears Man Who Waved Palestine Flag in Tahrir

CAIRO (Dispatches) – A young man has been forcibly disappeared in Cairo’s Tahrir Square after waving the Palestinian flag in support of Palestinians who have suffered days of intense bombardment and violence by the Zionist regime.
Al-Araby Al-Jadeed reported that Omar Morsi told his mother before Friday prayers that he would go and pray in the Omar Makram Mosque overlooking Tahrir Square before going out to show solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza and Sheikh Jarrah.
Omar has been forcibly disappeared since then. His mother has asked at Qasr Al-Nil Police Station, but officers there have denied knowledge of his whereabouts.
According to the human rights lawyer Mukhtar Mounir, Omar suffers from major health problems.
Under the Arabic hashtag, Where is Omar Morsi, Egyptians are posting in solidarity with him.
On Friday journalist Nour Al-Huda was also arrested after carrying the Palestinian flag and wearing a Palestinian scarf, also in Tahrir Square.
However, Nour was released four hours after her arrest after the news circulated on social media.
Founder of the Egyptian Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement and human rights activist Ramy Shaath remains in prison after being arrested at home in 2019.
Son of the former acting Palestinian prime minister Nabil Shaath, Ramy is being held under pretrial detention in Tora Prison and has been placed on a so-called terror list.
