A Society of Criminals

By:Kayhan Int’l Staff Writer

The recent brutal killing of an unarmed 13-year old Hispanic boy in Chicago by white policemen shocked the civilized world and was definitely another incident of racism in a country notorious for lawlessness, but the US leadership was unmoved except for a few words that spoke more of hypocrisy rather than sympathy for bereaved family of the victim.
In a society steeped in crimes, violence, and wanton killings, the murder of Adam Toledo, was just an ordinary incident despite the vociferous cries of protestors for justice.
What happened last year in Minneapolis where Afro-American George Floyd was sadistically choked to death by white policemen, and what routinely occurs all over the US, is ample proof of the criminal-mentality of the American leadership which is involved in acts of terrorism all over the world.
As a matter of fact, the killings on the streets of the US are dress rehearsal for the American leadership’s involvement in destabilizing world countries through supply of weapons to repressive regimes and the resulting destruction of the infrastructure of victimized nations – e.g. Syria and Yemen – in addition to the massacre of millions and the homelessness of millions more.
According to a report, the year 2020 that went by took a heavy toll of life or ordinary citizens, the majority of them black-skinned, in the US.
Beside the Coronavirus pandemic that claimed the life of 300,000 people, 2020 was the deadliest year in US history in terms of gun violence, with over 19,000 people killed in shootings.
It was the highest death toll in over 20 years, with black and brown people, suffering the most for the colour of their skin.
Many pointed to a surge in violence since May last year, following widespread protesting against the killing of George Floyd.
In Chicago, where poor Toledo was killed in spite of raising both his hands up in the air to avoid any shooting by the white police officer, as much as 3,237 shooting incidents have occurred as of December 27.
New York City has had 1,824 shooting victims over the past several months as of December 20, while in Minneapolis, where Floyd was killed there has been a 77 percent increase in murders.
In view of these undeniable what is happening in Yemen, and what happens sporadically in the usurped land of Palestine, is not at all surprising because the US leadership is comrade-in-crimes with the Saudis and the Zionists.
It is logical to expect civilized behaviour, including honouring of commitments and keeping of promises by the US?
No, it is not. It means talks, whether indirect or direct, with the US is self-deception, as was the case of JCPOA.
