Yemeni Drones Target Saudi Jizan Airport, Khamis Air Base

SANA’A (Dispatches) – Yemen’s army spokesman said on Sunday that the country had fired armed drones to attack a Saudi air base in south of the kingdom.
The country’s air force managed to carry out accurate attacks as their military drones targeted the airfields of Jizan Airport and Khamis Mushait air base, in southern Saudi Arabia.
Brigadier General Yahya Saree, the spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces, said in a brief statement that the air force was able to target the Saudi airfields where the coalition’s warplanes were located at Jizan Airport and King Khalid Air Base in Khamis Mushait with two Qasef 2k drones, stressing that the strike was precise.
He went on to say that the attacks were a part of Yemen’s legitimate response to the escalation of violence and the all-out siege by the Saudi aggressors on their country.
The Yemeni air force also used a Qasef 2k plane to strike a sensitive site at Abha International Airport on Friday afternoon.
Meanwhile, fierce fighting for Ma’rib continues as Yemeni forces seeks to take back full control of the strategic city from Saudi-backed mercenaries and militants.
Yemeni forces have taken back large swathes of Ma’rib, the capital of an oil-rich region and the militants’ last significant bastion in the north, since February.
Two members of the militant forces told AFP that the Yemeni forces were mounting a concerted push that had left 26 militants dead.
One of the militant sources said Sunday that the Yemeni forces "are launching simultaneous attacks” in the areas of Kassara and Al-Mashjah, northwest of the city, and Jabal Murad in the south.
"They have made progress on the Kassara and Al-Mashjah fronts, but they have been thwarted on the Jabal Murad front,” he told AFP.
Another militant said that warplanes from the Saudi-led military coalition, which entered the Yemen conflict to restore the former Riyadh-backed president in 2015, launched airstrikes on the Yemeni army positions.
There were no immediate reports about possible casualties and the extent of damage.
Saudi warplanes also attacked Bir al-Maraziq area in the Khabb wa al-Sha’af district of Yemen’s northern province of al-Jawf on four occasions and Bani Hassan area in the Abs district of northern Hajjah province.
Similar airstrikes were reported in the Harad district of Hajjah province in addition to the al-Sawadiyah district in al-Bayda province.
Saudi Arabia, backed by the U.S. and its other regional allies with the goal of bringing the government of Yemen’s former president back to power and crushing the popular Ansarullah movement.
The Yemeni armed forces and allied Popular Committees have, however, gone from strength to strength against the Saudi-led invaders, and left Riyadh and its allies bogged down in the country.
The Saudi-led military aggression, meanwhile, has left more than 200,000 Yemenis dead, and displaced millions of people.
It has also destroyed Yemen’s infrastructure and spread famine and infectious diseases across the impoverished Arab country.
Mohammed Abdul-Salam, the spokesman for the Ansarullah movement, censured the Saudi-led blockade against Yemen on the eve of the holy fasting month of Ramadan.
"Just as the blessed month of Ramadan is around the corner, the coalition of aggression forces continue to impose their siege on Yemeni people for the seventh year, and in complete disassociation from all humanitarian principles and  values,” Abdul-Salam wrote in a tweet.
"In the face of the continued aggression and siege, the Yemeni nation, with the help of God, will defend their right to live in freedom, dignity and sovereignty.”
