Commander: Army Sets Up Three New Brigades
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian army’s ground force have set up a number of new artillery and mechanized brigades as part of a plan to modify its structure, the force’s commander announced on Sunday.
Speaking at a graduation ceremony of army cadets, Brigadier General Kiomars Heidari said a grand plan on revision of the army’s ground force has resulted in the creation of three main sections. The first includes mobile offense units, he said, noting that there are no infantry units in the ground forces anymore. The second is comprised of five rapid reaction brigades and army special forces, while the third includes five artillery and mechanized brigades.
