Astan-e Quds Razavi Unveils Unique 17th Century Qur'an
TEHRAN (IBNA) - The Museum of Astan-e Quds Razavi in Mashhad, Khorasan Province of Iran will ýunveil a unique precious version of the holy Qur’an dating back to the 17th century AD ýduring the Safavid rule in Iran. ý
According to the public and international relations department of libraries, museums and documents of Astan-e Quds Razavi, this version of Qur’an was scripted and illuminated in the time of Shah Abbas I (11th century AH), and dedicated to the Qur’anic treasurer of Holy Shrine of Imam Reza.
The skill in calligraphy, translation and annotations employed in this version of the holy Qur’an and arrangement of specific words such as the names and attributes of God, Tasbihat (glorifying God), Tahmidat (praising God), Tahlilat (saying la illaha illallah) and so on in the first or last lines of the pages; the division of Qur’anic sections; various tables containing Qur’anic rules; using a very beautiful calligraphy are among the characteristics of this version.
This Safavid era version of Qur’an will soon be put on public display in the Museum of Astan-e Quds Razavi.
