Parliament Speaker:

U.S. Power Structure Tied to Terror

TEHRAN (Dispatches) -- Iran's Majlis speaker Ali Larijani on Sunday dismissed U.S. claims of fighting terrorism as ridiculous, saying Washington has a negative track record in supporting terrorism.
Addressing a Majlis open session, Larijani said despite its dark track record in supporting terrorism, today, Washington is deceptively showing too much enthusiasm for fighting terrorism.
He stated that the U.S. "power-thirsty structure" is tied to terrorism phenomenon in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq and Syria.
Larijani also praised a recent stance adopted by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei regarding Iran's refusal to join the U.S.-led coalition against Takfiri ISIL terrorists.
Ayatollah Khamenei described as "absurd, hollow and biased” remarks made by U.S. officials regarding the formation of the so-called international coalition to battle the ISIL terrorist group.
Former foreign minister Kamal Kharrazi said the U.S.-sponsored coalition is a suspicious scheme, adding Iran favored a single world strategy to fight terrorism.
The head of the Strategic Council of Foreign Relations, Kamal Kharrazi, noted that this crusade involves some western and Arab states supported by Washington that created the ISIL first and launched their so-called fight against the extremist group later.
Kharrazi recalled that this same assessment made the Islamic Republic of Iran to reject a request from the White House to join a coalition, because "it considers that it was a suspicious action".
The former diplomat noted that Tehran has played an active role in fighting the terrorism carried out by ISIL, in tune with the strategy designed for Iran by Leader of the Islamic Revolution, and pointed out that Iran "only complies with its commitments" to supporting Iraq and Syria.
