Iran a Democratic Country: Arab Daily
LONDON (Dispatches) -- Iran is a democratic country in which people can take to the streets to protest at their government's policies but such scenes cannot be seen in the Persian Gulf Arab states, a leading Arab daily wrote on Sunday.
The Arabic-language Al-Ray al-Youm newspaper reported that the recent economic protests in Iran had pleased certain Arab countries, especially in the Persian Gulf littoral states. It referred to the self-restraint shown by Iran’s security forces towards the protestors, saying similar protests would have involved the killing of people in the Persian Gulf Arab states.
