Three American-Zionist Terrorists Behind Coup in Karaj Hanged

TEHRAN -- Three American-
Zionist terrorists behind the January 2026 coup in Karaj were executed on Sunday.
Hassan Divband, Hamid Kazemi and Reza Zangeneh were hanged after the Supreme Court confirmed their death sentences, and the confiscation of their property is underway.
Following technical measures and intelligence investigations, it was established that Divband, while participating in the riots, set fire to and destroyed public property and incited people and youths to destroy public property in Karaj.
A judicial case was opened in Alborz province, the terrorist was arrested on Jan. 11, and ten other criminals who participated in the riots under his supervision were identified and arrested.
The men took part in the Jan. 18-19 riots with knives, machetes and two hunting rifles—along with 150 shotgun cartridges later discovered—and homemade Molotov cocktails and grenades. Their actions included destroying a power substation and cutting electricity to some areas of Karaj, breaking CCTV cameras, and destroying, entering and setting fire to public places.
The criminals took part in the riots with prior decision and coordination, and based on training they had received, wore black clothing and masks and carried no mobile phones to avoid identification.
The destruction of a substation was intended to create an obstacle to identifying the attackers. All were identified and arrested through technical and intelligence work by the Alborz province intelligence directorate and judicial orders issued.
Divband, the ringleader and first criminal, who managed and directed the criminal acts of the repair shop’s staff, after coordination and consultation and creating an obligation for all his employees to participate in the riots, obligated them all to actively take part in the coup and riots by attributing obscene words and insults to their honor in case of non-participation.
The first to third criminals, along with other criminals, in light of the call of the opposition and after prior coordination and decision, on the nights of Jan. 18 and 19, while carrying various cold and warm weapons including machetes, knives, Molotov cocktails and homemade grenades, moved toward public and government places.
After attacking and wounding two people they believed to be security officers, they fled and, at another location, destroyed a power substation and cut electricity, set fire to garbage bins, closed streets and attacked public places.
They then destroyed CCTV cameras based on training received through social networks and television, set fire to office supplies, computers and desks in public and government places, and then set fire to the building.
Zangeneh, the third terrorist, in addition to accompanying the group at all stages, destroyed the substation and cut electricity to the area with the participation of some other defendants, and then used Molotov cocktails and homemade grenades when confronted by security officers.
One of the acts of the terrorists was attacking other rioters. According to the statements of one criminal, echoed by other terrorists, they acknowledged: “On Jan. 18 we participated with masks, on the way we suspected two people, when the person panicked we stabbed him with a knife and fled and went to the agreed location.”
The first and second terrorists claimed in court they had a hand in the riots due to economic and livelihood problems, but inquiries into their property, assets and incomes established the opposite, and both enjoyed high financial capability.
Divband owned four apartment units in Azimieh, Karaj, a repair shop, an Azera vehicle and a Tiggo
8 Pro; Kazemi owned three vehicles. All these assets were confiscated by court order.
The case had eleven defendants, and investigations established that Divband gathered and led his relatives and staff to participate in the riots.
On the night before the riots, he held coordination meetings and, by attributing insults to their honor, obligated all to participate carrying cold weapons such as knives and machetes as well as homemade grenades and Molotov cocktails.
Kazemi made Molotov cocktails and homemade grenades in the basement of his home and, after testing the explosive items, took part in the riots with the aim of destroying public property and attacking security personnel. Zangeneh played a central role in destroying the power substation and cutting electricity to some areas of Karaj.
With the review of the Alborz province intelligence directorate’s report and according to the documents and evidence in the case and the confessions of other defendants, the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Karaj recognized the charges against the first to third criminals as instances of participation in operational action for the Zionist regime, America and hostile groups and against the country’s security, and in line with implementing the call of the fallen Pahlavi remnant and the operational plan of the Zionist and American regimes.
The Karaj Revolutionary Court sentenced the first three terrorists to death and the confiscation of all their property, and sentenced the other criminals to five to ten years in prison. The death sentence was carried out on Sunday morning after confirmation by the Supreme Court, and the confiscation of property is being implemented.
