Report: Macron Was Given Shelter in Case of Assault on Elysee Palace

PARIS (Dispatches) - French President Emmanuel Macron has prepared a secret evacuation plan from the Elysee Palace in case it is stormed by protesters.
A shelter was provided for the head of state in the suburbs of Paris. This was reported on November 7 by The Telegraph newspaper.
“Emmanuel Macron has a secret bunker near Paris, where he will escape if the Elysee Palace is occupied by rioters,” the publication says.
According to the authors, the authorities fear mass riots ahead of the 2027 presidential election. Intelligence agencies simulate various crisis scenarios, including street clashes, sabotage, cyber attacks, and an armed uprising.
It is noted that the victory of the leader of the right-wing National Unification party, Marine Le Pen, may provoke protests by leftist activists, young people from the suburbs and rural residents. According to journalists, Paris police chief Patrice Faure held meetings to prepare for a possible uprising.
Mass protests in France began on September 29 amid the discussion of the budget for 2027 and have since spread to almost the entire country. The students demanded to improve the learning conditions and solve the problem of the shortage of teachers. By October 19, Interior Minister Laurent Nunez admitted that the police had lost control of the situation with protests in a number of cities in France. Against this background, the Interior Minister decided to resign, but Macron did not accept it.
According to data from November 6, the protests, which covered 207 cities, gathered a total of about 1.57 million people.
The British newspaper The Guardian pointed out that Macron’s strategic mistakes led to political isolation. Criticism of Macron comes from representatives of the entire political spectrum.
As the newspaper notes, criticism of rivals six months before the presidential election is expected, but its bitterness and contemptuous attitude towards the leader, as well as the anger of opponents, attract attention.
