TEHRAN – Iran’s women’s national squash team claimed its first-ever bronze medal at the Asian Team Squash Championships after defeating hosts Pakistan 2-1.
 The Iranian players secured the historic result on Friday, November 6, in their fourth match at the 23rd edition of the tournament in Islamabad, with victories by Narges Soltani and Fereshteh Eghtedari.
In the opening match, Soltani defeated Pakistan’s Saharish Ali 3-0, winning the three games 11-9, 11-5, and 11-8 to give Iran an early lead.
Baran Muhammadpour then lost 3-1 to Pakistan’s Mahnoor Ali, bringing the overall score level at 1-1.
In the decisive match, Eghtedari defeated Sana Bahadar 3-0, winning 11-8, 11-6, and 11-6 to secure Iran’s victory.
Iran had also defeated South Korea earlier in the competition, helping the team finish third in Asia.
The Iranian squad comprises Fereshteh Eghtedari, Narges Soltani, Baran Muhammadpour, and Najmeh Boushehrizadeh, under head coach Elham Ramezani.
