TEHRAN – Head of Iran Mining House Muhammad-Reza Bahraman has stressed the need to expand economic ties with regional countries, saying that boosting domestic mineral production and processing would help increase exports and strengthen Iran’s presence in regional markets.
Bahraman made the remarks at the opening of the 20th International Exhibition of Mine, Mineral Industries, Mining Machinery and Equipment, Road Construction and Related Industries (IRAN CONMINE 2026), which began in Tehran on Wednesday.
The official described the exhibition as a major national event for the mining sector, providing a platform for exchanging expertise, expanding international cooperation and identifying new investment opportunities.
Bahraman said the country’s seventh development plan envisages 13% growth in the mining sector, adding that the exhibition would focus on practical ways to achieve the target and remove barriers to development.
The number of participants has increased by around 30% compared with the previous edition, with representatives from 36 countries expected to attend, he added.
The four-day exhibition opened with the participation of 128 domestic and foreign companies, including representatives from China, Japan, Russia, and India.
