Baran Auction to Showcase Persian Calligraphy, Miniature Art
TEHRAN — The fifth edition of the Baran specialized auction of Iranian and Islamic art will be held in Tehran on Friday, October 30, featuring celebrated Persian calligraphy and a selection of fine Iranian miniature paintings, including a prominent work by Mahmoud Farshchian.
According to a statement from the auction’s public relations office, the event will take place at the Rayzan International Conference Centre, following seven years of efforts to promote and preserve Iran’s calligraphic heritage.
The auction pays tribute to some of the most influential figures in Persian calligraphy, including Mir Emad Hassani, Darvish Abdolmajid Taleqani, Mirza Gholamreza Esfahani and Muhammad Hussein Emad al-Kottab Qazvini.
Organizers said this year’s program would extend beyond calligraphy to include distinguished examples of Iranian miniature painting, reflecting the historical and artistic connections between the two traditions.
A central highlight is expected to be The Third Feather, a work by Farshchian inspired by the mythical Simurgh, a legendary bird in Persian literature and artistic tradition. The work is presented as a symbol of knowledge, hope, renewal and cultural resilience.
The exhibition of works selected for the auction will be open to the public on October 28
